Introducing All Disciplines in Southern California
Having electrical engineering and design inside our Irvine office makes it a full, multi-discipline office for the first time since its inception.
Norwest is happy to announce a changing landscape to our California office that will make us more effective for nearby clients. Since we opened the doors in 2013, Norwest’s Irvine office housed a very talented group of mechanical designers. In more recent years, we’ve added civil, structural, and mechanical engineering capabilities.
Now, with the additions of David Irish and Nikki Radmanesh, we are excited to offer electrical engineering and design capabilities directly from the Irvine office, making it a full, multi-discipline engineering office for the first time since its inception.
Meet the newest CA team members!

David is new to the Irvine office, but not new to Norwest. He worked from our Portland headquarters for the last year and a half, becoming a trusted member of our electrical team. He is an experienced electrical engineer with a history of working for owner/operators, fabricators, and as an engineering consultant. Prior to joining Norwest, David had an internship with KapStone Paper, where he met and was mentored by two engineers that later joined Norwest. Years later, when Norwest was asked to coordinate a full mill outage at KapStone in 2018, David’s previous coworkers specifically remembered his work ethic and engineering capabilities. Reconnecting with David on Linkedin, they reached out and offered him an opportunity to work with Norwest directly. In David’s words, “I took the call, took the interview, and took the job.”
David transferred to Irvine so he and his fiancé could live closer to her family. David stated, “I am glad I got to spend time in Portland, getting a feel for the pulse of the company and understanding its ins and outs. I requested to transfer in order to be reunited with my fiancé and, at the same time, help the Irvine office grow and become multi-disciplinary.” Norwest is thrilled David can be a part of the growth we are seeing here in California and hope the move has helped him to strike a more rewarding work/life balance.
Norwest is equally fortunate to have added Nikki to the Irvine team. She is an experienced piping designer and drafter with previous experience in electrical design. Nikki was originally hired to bolster the mechanical team due to increasing workloads in the California market. Over the past 4 months, she has worked closely with her direct team of mechanical designers as well as spent time in Portland to become fully immersed in all things Norwest. Nikki’s unique abilities with both disciplines allow her to take on a hybrid role and flex between mechanical and electrical design as necessary.
The blend of Nikki and David’s talents, with the rest of our employees in California, fit well into Norwest’s goals of expanding the capabilities of the Irvine office and better serving our clients in SoCal.
Since 1975, Norwest’s typical introduction to new clients has been with small, brownfield work, where we strive to develop a reputation of expertise, outstanding service, and high-quality deliverables. Establishing that trust with our clients has typically led to more responsibility and larger engineering projects.
A challenge for Norwest in California has been that when those smaller projects included electrical engineering, the fast-paced schedules and smaller budgets wouldn’t always allow for our electrical team in Portland to get involved.
No more.
Our Irvine office will no longer rely on Portland personnel to carry the load of electrical expertise. Portland will continue to support California in every way possible, but our recent changes allow Norwest to locally offer multi-discipline services for California clients like NuStar, Kinder Morgan, Marathon Logistics, and Kern Oil & Refining. We can be on-site immediately to scope out small and large efforts alike, on any project of any discipline.
Norwest’s focus is to continue growing and expanding the capabilities of our Irvine office by finding the right individuals that fit our high standard of excellence. We are another step further with the addition of these talented and passionate individuals.
