Norwest’s Feature Employee: The Norwest Team
At Norwest, we are fortunate to have an amazing team of hard-working, solutions-oriented individuals. To honor them, we created a monthly tradition of featuring an employee to learn more about them as a person and their role in the company. Instead of featuring just one employee this month, we want to recognize the entire Norwest Team for TAKING OWNERSHIP during such a trying and uncertain time with a PASSION to maintain Norwest’s standard of quality.
Over the past few weeks, Tina Salatto and I had the opportunity to speak directly to people during an employee engagement activity. We delivered “Satellite Office” yard signs, provided some favorite snacks, and restocked home-office supplies. The media team also interviewed Norwest Board members Randy Miller and Brian Kaiser to hear their thoughts on the employees’ adjustment to working from home. Through this process we learned that Norwest could not have managed this transition without the whole team stepping up and feel that everyone deserves some recognition.
Transitioning: The Work Must Go On
The Board is clearly impressed by the employees’ ability to maintain quality and efficiency in working from home. Brian stated, “I was pleasantly surprised at how prepared we were to work remotely…With the team we have and the new software we’ve been implementing over the last year, we were able to transition into (mostly) working from home while keeping our in-progress, fast-tracked projects on schedule.” Randy pinpoints the employees’ ability to TAKE OWNERSHIP as the main element for our adaptability. “Most people tend to resist change, but we were able to go from working side-by-side, to working together without being together. I think it speaks to the people we have at Norwest; people that can work on their own without a lot of oversight; people that take great pride in their work and will do what it takes to make sure our projects are as successful as possible.”
One benefit the team repeatedly mentioned was the flexibility. Working from home allowed for more time to focus on personal lives and quality time with their loved ones. Jason Anderson, Mechanical Engineering Manager, proudly showed us the tree house he built for his children. We met Rhythm Ghiya’s new baby (from a safe distance), and she shared how much she appreciated the extra time at home with her daughter in addition to her mother who is visiting from overseas. Brian Kaiser finished his interview by saying, “I have enjoyed more time at home with the family. Lunch time and break time with them has been great. It has been key to be able to provide more support for my two daughters, as it has been tough for them to transition into remote-learning for school.”

Norwest’s “New Normal”
As the situation around COVID-19 continues to change, we anticipate there will be additional hurdles to overcome, but Norwest’s employees have shown they are adaptable and committed to providing excellent service regardless of the circumstances. Randy ended his interview by saying, “I feel confident moving forward, that whatever the ‘new normal’ becomes, it will be because the wonderful people here at Norwest have come together to create a solution that works for them, works for Norwest, and will also serve our clients’ needs.”
