We’re excited to share a leadership update at Norwest Engineering!

Brian Kaiser, P.E., officially assumed the role of President on July 7, 2025, following a planned leadership transition. This marks an important milestone as we build on our 50-year legacy and position the company for continued growth and long-term client success. 

Brian succeeds Michael Smith, P.E., who has officially stepped down as President after 12 years in the role. Mike will remain with Norwest through the end of 2025 to support a smooth transition and will continue to contribute as needed thereafter. 

In Brian’s words: “I’m honored to have the board’s trust in stepping into this role. This transition marks an exciting new chapter for the company, and we’re grateful to Mike for the many contributions he’s made to Norwest over the years. I’m confident this sets Norwest up for continued success.” 

A 16-year Norwest veteran and our VP of Engineering since 2015, Brian brings deep technical expertise and a strong commitment to our clients, our team, and our values. His appointment reflects Norwest’s focus on innovation, operational excellence, and long-term client partnerships. 

Mike, who joined Norwest in 1998, has played a pivotal role in our success—serving as a professional engineer, project manager, and President. In his own words: “This company has meant a great deal to me, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together. I’m proud of the leadership team and ownership group we have today, and I’m confident that Norwest is moving forward with strong leadership and the strongest, most diverse technical team we’ve ever had.”
