We’d love for you to get to know Jason Anderson, PE!

Jason Anderson, PE, serves as Norwest’s Director of Engineering, bringing more than a decade of experience with the company and a strong foundation in mechanical and process engineering. At the beginning of his 20-year career, Jason estimated, sold, engineered, designed, and managed projects involving ASME Section VIII, Division 1 heat exchangers and pressure vessels, building a deep technical expertise that continues to guide complex project execution today.

Jason joined Norwest 11 years ago as a staff engineer and has steadily advanced through leadership roles, including Director of Mechanical/Process Engineering, before stepping into his current position. His technical focus includes pipe stress analysis, and he has played a key leadership role in some of the company’s most significant work. Notably, Jason served as project manager for a large refinery upgrade project in New Mexico—one of the largest in Norwest’s history—overseeing approximately $3.5 million in engineering, design, and construction support services.

He holds a degree from North Dakota State University (Go Bison!) and is a licensed Professional Engineer in 12 states. In addition to his professional work, Jason contributes to the broader engineering community as the designated Mechanical Engineer on the State of Oregon Board of Boiler Rules, a role he has held since 2020.

Jason’s approach to engineering and leadership is grounded in both practical experience and passion for the work. His mentor in college, the late Dr. Sherman Goplen, had a tendency of saying, “You aren’t an engineer until you put the calculator away,” a reminder that real-world judgment and problem-solving are at the heart of great engineering. Jason hasn’t forgotten this nugget of wisdom, and has found his stride in being able to intuit the broad overview of projects before getting into the weeds. Another one of his favorite quotes, this time from Steve Jobs, is, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

Outside of work, Jason stays active through golfing, running, camping, backpacking, and other outdoor pursuits with his wife and three children. He serves as the Committee Chair for his son’s Scouting America troop, and is a dedicated church service volunteer, reflecting his commitment to leadership both in and out of the workplace.
