The Cochin Pipeline was originally installed to deliver NGLs from Alberta to Ontario in 1979. When Norwest was approached, our client wanted the ability to deliver natural gasoline (condensate) from Illinois to Fort Saskatchewan. Therefore, Norwest initiated engineering to reverse the flow of a major portion of the pipeline and convert its service from NGLs to condensate. The project required the reversal/conversion of 26 pump stations and 6 tie-ins to existing terminals throughout parts of the US and Canada. Our client was able to deliver condensate on schedule, while Norwest completed project close out services such as as-builting and record book creation.
Added Scope: Based on the success of Norwest’s execution, the client specifically requested we design a new pump station in Canada and a new terminal in Illinois.
