Vessel Evaluations & Terminal Operating Limits

Norwest regularly evaluates berths for accommodating new vessels. Applying the same assessments, we are able to identify potential risks and recommend improvements to enhance operational performance. Our assessments consider factors such as vessel size, mooring capabilities, and environmental conditions to ensure your terminal can accommodate the right vessels safely and efficiently. With our expertise, you can make informed decisions that improve docking procedures, reduce delays, and optimize terminal throughput.

Norwest develops detailed terminal operating limits (TOLs) to help marine terminals operate safely and effectively. We compile and assess the regional or site-specific environmental conditions including wind, current, water levels, channel and berth depths. We then apply them considering the berth breasting and mooring system capabilities, vessel draft and freeboard, ship positioning, and other operational constraints, and apply them to each vessel or vessel class to establish the recommended parameters for safe and efficient operations. These limits are crucial for ensuring safety and preventing accidents.
