We’d love for you to get to know Chris Stine, PE!
Chris is a Principal and the Director of Project Management here at Norwest Engineering. A licensed Mechanical Engineer and seasoned Project Manager, Chris plays a key role in leading our project management team in their efforts to guide projects from early concept through execution, while remaining closely connected to the day-to-day work of Norwest’s technical teams.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Oregon Institute of Technology and is a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states.
Chris spent much of the early part of his time at Norwest at an oil refinery in Tacoma, Washington, where he gained hands-on experience in engineering design, equipment procurement, and construction management. During his time there, he supported two major refinery turnarounds.

Since joining Norwest Engineering nearly 20 years ago, Chris has grown alongside the firm, advancing through roles that include Mechanical Engineering Director and ultimately Director of Project Management. Today, as a Principal, he continues to be deeply involved in projects and operations, helping teams navigate complex technical challenges while keeping schedules, budgets, and client goals front and center.
When it comes to leadership, Chris is guided by a quote from Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead: “Who we are is how we lead.”
“As a leader, my character is on display every day in how I carry myself in front of the team,” Chris says. “I need to make sure I never lose sight of that. I need to continue to earn their respect, and ensure that I am never asking something of the team that I’m not willing to do myself.”
That mindset, grounded in integrity, accountability, and teamwork, continues to shape Chris’s leadership at Norwest and the way he supports both clients and colleagues.

Outside of work, Chris lives in Beaverton, Oregon with his wife and two kids. He’s an amateur photographer and an even more amateur cook (by his own admission), often experimenting with new recipes at home, with his family serving as willing taste testers. Chris enjoys spending time outdoors and is an active volunteer scout leader with his kids’ troop. Many weekends are spent hiking, camping, and canoeing, rain or shine—though, as he’ll note, mostly rain in the Pacific Northwest. Weeknights often include cooking and baking alongside his daughter, creating memories as well as meals.
